Response Quest
A training game from the CIVSAR household guide

Read the warning.
Decide what your
households do.

You are put on a response team with a role and dropped into a scenario that unfolds over in-game hours. Each turn you read what is coming in and choose what to do. The scenario ends when the disaster ends — then the debrief shows what the book says about every call you made.

Amber is the level people mistake for wait-and-see. What does the lane do now?

A training scenario. Nothing here is a real warning.

Quests

Every correct choice is something the book says, and every wrong choice is a mistake the book warns against. Later quests unlock as you finish the earlier ones.

The five roles

Each role reads a different part of the book, which is why a team needs all of them. On your own you hold every role; in a team some turns wait on one person.

Warning Decoder — Reads the bulletins, turns levels into household actions, and spots which DS division is named.Part 2 — the three ladders
Evacuation Lead — Decides when each household leaves, runs the ten-minute departure, picks the route.Part 1: leaving now · Part 3: the family plan
First Aid — Handles the injuries: bleeding, CPR, someone pulled from water, burns.Part 1: when someone is hurt
Shelter & Supplies — Water, food, the go-bag, safety-centre registration and hygiene.Cut off · the household store · the safety centre
Information Officer — Checks the rumours, keeps the out-of-area contact updated, closes the Tamil and Sinhala gaps.Four things that go wrong · how to help

The game cannot contradict the book

68references from the book’s own list, available to cite. A number means the same thing here as on the page it came from.
2quests written, built from the manuscript. Five more to come.
17decisions, each tied to a chapter and the reference behind it.
0facts invented. A quest that cites a reference the book does not have fails the build rather than reaching a player.
Before you play

Fill in your card first

The game asks you, mid-quest, which Divisional Secretariat division a warning names. Doing the ten things first earns the preparedness bonus — and changes how the night goes.
